Women will usually ovulate about two weeks BEFORE their next period. Depending on how long your cycle was going to be after your April period---for instance if your body had you scheduled for a 45-day cycle last time---you could definitely have been fertile on the 19th or 21st of May. I would not assume you had already ovulated.
